Notes:

Doing PGD for HD cannot reveal the gender. When an embryo is biopsied, only one cell is removed to test. That cell can be broken down & studied in 1 of 2 ways: at the gene level or at the chromosome level. The HD test is at the gene level. The gender test is at the chromosome level. It is impossible to look at both with only one cell. I was actually relieved when I heard this, because I didn't want to worry about people judging me for choosing the gender of my babies. When people asked how "custom" I could make my baby, I could honestly tell them that all we could possibly do was screen for HD.
